Violence and threats against nurses are not part of the job
UNA's executive officers were at the Alberta Legislature last week and paid a visit to the workers' memorial plaque on the Legislature Grounds. The plaque was dedicated in 1991 for that year's April 28 Day of Mourning for Alberta workers and their families who have lost their lives, been injured, or had their health affected as a result of their work.
With many nurses and health care workers facing incidents of violence in hospitals and health care workplaces everyday, the message of this plaque should be top of mind for Alberta MLAs as they walk by it on the way to the Legislature. Violence and threats against nurses and health care workers are not part of the job.
