National Day of Action for public health care on March 16

Rallies planned outside MP offices in Calgary and Edmonton

On Monday, March 16th, Canadians from coast to coast will hold a National Day of Action for Public Health Care. United Nurses of Alberta strongly encourages its members and supporters of public health care to send a message to Ottawa demanding that our federal government enforce the Canada Health Act and save public health care from the threat of Alberta's Bill 11.

Bill 11 – known officially Alberta’s Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 – is a danger to public medicare everywhere in Canada.

Not only does it create a two-tier American-style health care system in Alberta, but it will also open the door to the destruction of public health care in every other Canadian province. It is in violation of the Canada Health Act.

We must demand that Canada’s leaders say no to Americanized health care and enforce the Canada Health Act to save Canadian medicare.
