CPP Virtual Townhall

REMINDER VIRTUAL TOWNHALL TOMORROW

Dear friends,

A reminder for you all that the CPP Virtual Townhall is set to happen tomorrow (March 11th, 2026) at 6PM till 7:30PM. There will be a live Q&A session at the end where participants can ask questions and engage in discussion.

Join us to learn more about the proposed changes to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and what Premier Danielle Smith and the Alberta government (UCP) are planning with their proposed Alberta Pension Plan (APP).

These changes could have significant implications for retirement security in Alberta. This session is an important opportunity to better understand what is being proposed, how it may affect the future of the CPP, what it could mean for working Albertans, and what we can all do to make our voices heard.

We will be joined by two knowledgeable speakers who will help break down the proposal and answer your questions:

  • Ellen Nygaard, former senior adviser in public policy at the Government of Alberta. She is a pension professional with decades experience in pension policy, including as a former board member of several Alberta pension plans.

  • Ricardo Acuña, Executive Director of the Parkland Institute, an Alberta-wide, non-partisan research centre situated within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta. The Parkland Institute studies economic, social, cultural, and political issues facing Albertans and Canadians, using the perspective of political economy. The Institute shares the results of its research widely and promotes discussion of the issues its research raises.

We strongly encourage all members to attend and stay informed about an issue that could impact your retirement and the financial security of workers across Alberta.
